Following the progress from the preseason friendlies, English side, Arsenal has given ex -Real Madrid midfielder the prestige of wearing the captain arm band.
The Norwegian has made an impression since joining the club in 2021 and will take over the armband previously held by Alexandre Lacazette, who returned to boyhood club Lyon in June.
Mikel Arteta, the club's coach, is said to have made the decision, which was approved by the entire team and board.
The midfielder came initially on a loan from Real Madrid in 2021, before his purchase was made permanent.
