The God who wounds us (2)

 

One of the most dramatic events in my life was being attacked by armed robbers. My ears were opened in the midst of the attack, and I heard God for the first time. He assured me that the attack would be in vain.

However, right after He made this promise to me, one of the robbers shot me in the leg. I then had the privilege of witnessing not only how God delivered me from the robbers, but also how He miraculously healed the bullet wound in my leg.

As a result, I had firsthand knowledge of God's power. "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You," I said to God after my ordeal, like Job. (Job 42:5).

Indeed, the Lord assured me that He is my Saviour by speaking to me through a scripture: "Blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear." Matthew 13:16 says,

This blessing came as a result of being shot by armed robbers. This demonstrates that God created sickness in order for us to know that He is our healer. (John 9:3).
