When the 22-year-old Uruguayan striker joins from Benfica, he will become the most expensive acquisition in Reds history.
Darwin Nunez is set to become Liverpool's most expensive acquisition after the Reds struck a deal with Benfica worth up to £85 million (€100 million/$105 million).
The Reds have agreed agreements with both the Portuguese club and the Uruguayan striker after winning a Europe-wide transfer war for the 22-year-old Uruguayan striker.
Nunez will sign a deal at Anfield until 2028 after undergoing a medical on Monday, after which Liverpool will focus on acquiring Aberdeen wonderkid Calvin Ramsay.
The contract to bring the forward to the Premier League will cost £64 million (€75 million/$79 million) up front, plus a possible £21 million (€25 million/$26 million) in add-ons.
Nunez will be presented as a Liverpool player after the club fought off a number of other clubs, including Manchester United, to sign him.
