Manchester United's most recent offer of €90 million (£76.3 million) to Ajax was turned down, but negotiations are still ongoing.
The 22-year-old has been sought after by United for some weeks, and last week, the club rejected a £67.9 million (€80 million) approach from United.
According to one source, Ajax wants at least €100 million (£84.8 million), but they are not under any obligation to sell and believe they have little time to find a replacement.
United are ready to back out of the agreement, but it's believed that time has not yet come.

United, however, is still considering its options. Additionally, they continue to monitor the position of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a striker for Barcelona. Aubameyang and Chelsea have been in negotiations.
